A DECADE TO REMEMBER

Ten years on and look where we are, Married with two kids and a sensible car! How far we’ve come from those Centaur days, Of flirting and flashing and clandestine ways. What a decade it’s been of memorable times, Of parties and holidays and of course plenty of fine wines. From Musard Road and its chaotic fun, To Alder Lodge and a boil-in-the-bag curry cooked to overdone! Then on to Wapping with your job at News Int, Whilst I concluded my degree student stint. Finally I was earning at T.V.G., And it was time to start flat hunting to invest our money. So off we trawled and Bridgeview Court we did find, And excitedly we moved in with our first mortgage and peace of mind. A happy few years we spent living there, Enjoying Butlers Wharf and La Lanterna fare. Then, for our biggest adventure yet, Off to travel the world we did set. For exactly one year we backpacked around, And it was then that I confirmed a true soul mate I had found. Upon our return you immediately proposed, And my heart exploded as I said ‘Yes’ and glowed. So it was in the following November of 2001, Amidst candles and pink roses the deed was done. We were united as Mr and Mrs Best, As witnessed by our 160 guests. I felt like a princess with my handsome prince, And even fish-lip kisses didn’t make me wince! Off we jetted for our honeymoon, Where I announced you were to be a Daddy soon. The look of joy and pride on your face, Is a memory that even time can’t erase. I saw the expression again when Ashley popped out, And ‘It’s a boy! It’s a boy!’ you gleefully did shout. How rich and full he has made our life, Admittedly coupled with plenty of strife! He’s an utter joy to have around, And he makes smiles and cuddles and pops abound! Our second miracle, Scarlett, arrived just four weeks ago. A perfect little girl to love, nurture and watch grow. I feel so blessed by what you’ve brought to my life, And feel utterly privileged to be your wife. Thanks for a fantastic ten years together. My love for you will last forever. So here’s to plenty more decades of you and me, Filled with the rewarding happiness of our perfect family.
